The legal battle inside the Buss family over the Lakers’ remaining ownership stake continues. Joey and Janie Buss have filed a new opposition to Jeanie Buss’ effort to remove them as co-trustees.
The filing argues that Joey and Janie had the authority to vote on a sale and challenges the scope of Jeanie’s powers as co-trustee and acting governor. The siblings previously voted 5-1 to sell the family’s remaining stake to Josh Kushner and Bob Iger.
The filing also argues that selling at a $12.5 billion franchise valuation would maximize value for all beneficiaries of the trust.
