Burgos, Cook: “I wanted to win the BCL so bad”

Omar Cook talked in the mixed zone after winning the BCL trophy with Burgos last night.

Here are his quotes:

“We knew we had to match their aggressiveness. We watched the last two games and they came out very strong. But we’re a big team, we got strong players, each game somebody else steps up. We just wanted to stay there when they made their run, then we made our run.

I’ve been talking about winning this trophy all week. Kind of talking it into existence. It’s my first Final, and I wanted to win it bad. A lot of stuff happened during this off-season, I had a chance to come here and got lucky to be with this team. Xavi (Rabaseda) told me: “You ain’t shooting all tournament, you’re gonna be open today”. So I was ready.

This is my first time starting off the bench maybe in my whole career. I love the role, I want to star in my role. We got Alex (Renfroe), big-time player, I respect him a lot. We make each other work in practice. We support each other in the game though, and I want to do my best to help my team win.

We’ll try to be the first team to repeat as BCL champions. Hopefully as the year goes on we get the fans back, we get the excitement back with them.”
