Following the Chicago Bulls’ crushing defeat to the Oklahoma City Thunder on opening night, head coach Billy Donovan disclosed to media that the team held a players-only meeting. On Wednesday night, the visiting Thunder defeated the Bulls 124-104.

Donovan reported that the players were having a “heated conversation” when he entered the locker room. According to Donovan, he asked the group if they would like the coaches to step aside while they spoke. The coaches left after the players responded “yes.”

It was emphasized by the Bulls coach that the players “weren’t screaming at each other”. Players acknowledged it and said that the discussions were essential.

According to Nikola Vucevic, “It’s probably one of the first times since I’ve been here that it was like this and it was really needed”.
