Giannis Antetokounmpo exited the Milwaukee Bucks’ 134-123 win over the Indiana Pacers on Sunday after an awkward landing while finishing a dunk late in the third quarter. The two-time MVP stayed in briefly, dunked again on the next possession, then attempted two free throws before heading to the locker room and not returning.
Antetokounmpo finished with 31 points, 14 rebounds and eight assists in 30 minutes. Bucks coach Doc Rivers said: “My guess is he hyperextended his knee, but I’m guessing.”
Giannis said he wasn’t planning on getting imaging right away and would reassess on Monday: “I’m just going to go back home, sleep, see how I feel tomorrow… if I have a little bit of discomfort, then I’ll go from there. As of now, I’m not really bothered.” He has missed a career-high 31 games this season, including two extended absences with right calf strains and Saturday’s game in Atlanta due to a sprained left ankle.
