The NBA is preparing for a long-term investment in the NBA Europe project, with a strong focus on developing European talent. ESPN’s Brian Windhorst revealed new details about the initiative, explaining that the league could limit the number of American players on each roster.
Teams would also have larger rosters because they would compete in both domestic leagues and NBA Europe. London, Rome and other cities are expected to be part of the project.
“The reason you should care about our new teams is that we’re going to develop European players,” Windhorst said. He also stressed that the NBA plans to invest in Europe for at least 20 years, regardless of potential difficulties during the early stages.
