The NBA Europe project continues to generate momentum, but not all potential backers are fully convinced. According to Bloomberg, several owners of major European football clubs who are considering investing in the new league have pushed back against some of the proposed terms and the limited detail provided before bids were requested.
The main concern appears to be the financial structure. Bloomberg reports that investors are wary of a model in which the NBA would keep a very large share of league revenue, with an economic split described as 45% between the NBA and participating clubs, plus another 5% for FIBA and 5% reserved for future partners.
So while interest in the competition remains high, there is also growing pressure for greater transparency. NBA Europe is still one of the key stories shaping the future of European basketball, especially if it is to attract major investors from the football world.
