Bjelica is still questionable for Eurobasket due to injury and won’t play Serbia’s upcoming friendly matches against Slovenia and Italy this week
The 36-year-old French forward has signed a short-term contract and will be available to coach Joan Penarroya immediately.
Medical tests confirmed the ankle injury sustained in the EuroLeague opener will require several weeks on the sidelines.
The coach steps down after nearly two years in charge, with the entire national team staff also resigning. A new head coach will be appointed after the election of the new Lietuvos krepšinis president.
