Bertram Derthona is gearing up for the decisive phase of the season – the playoffs – by announcing they have reached an agreement with guard Cameron Hunt, who has played for Wurzburg in recent seasons.
CAREER – Born in Duncanville (Texas) on August 25, 1997, Hunt attended Duncanville High School before moving on to Southwestern College KS. Throughout his four-year college career, he showcased his scoring prowess: averaging 24.5 points per game in his second year, 23.3 in his third, and an impressive 31.5 points per game in his final year at College, shooting over 50% from the field and nearly 40% from beyond the arc.
After concluding his experience at Southwestern College KS, Cameron moved to Germany to play for Wurzburg, where he has spent his entire European career. In 2019/20, he played for the team in the Pro B league, while in the last three seasons, he has competed in the BBL.
His performance has consistently improved over the four years, both in terms of playing time and offensive production: in the 2022/23 season, he averaged 17 points, 3 rebounds, and 3 assists in 34 minutes of play in the BBL. Throughout his time in Germany, Cameron has proven to be an excellent three-point shooter (averaging 40% on nearly 4 attempts per game). Now, he moves to Bertram Derthona to embark on a new chapter in his career.
“We thank the Club for this additional effort aimed at giving us as many options as possible on the eve of the playoffs,” commented coach Marco Ramondino. “The recovery of Harper and the addition of Cameron Hunt will provide us with alternatives and depth in a context of close games where the margin for error is minimal. Hunt is a versatile and young wing, but with good experience in the German championship. He is enthusiastic about the opportunity to play in the playoffs in a significant league like ours and is aware of the role he may have in the playoffs.”
