The turning point for Ben Simmons reportedly came during a mini-camp with the Australian national team, where the former Philadelphia 76ers player impressed while competing at a high level against several NBA players.
According to Marc J. Spears, those performances convinced Kings general manager Scott Perry to take a serious interest in Simmons. Perry traveled to Miami in late August to meet with the player and watch a private workout.
Simmons later worked out in front of Sacramento’s coaching staff, quickly impressing head coach Doug Christie. Simmons is now reportedly extremely happy, proud and excited to begin his new chapter as a Sacramento Kings player.
