Bayern Munich Sign Former NBA First-Round Pick MarJon Beauchamp

The 25-year-old American wing joins Bayern ahead of the 2026/27 season after four NBA seasons, bringing 155 games of experience, athleticism and two-way versatility to Anton Gavel’s roster.

Just over a week before training camp begins on August 21 with their new head coach Anton Gavel, Bayern Basketball have further strengthened their roster for the 2026/2027 season: MarJon Beauchamp, a first-round pick in the 2022 NBA Draft, will join the only German EuroLeague team for the upcoming season at small forward. The 25-year-old American arrives with experience in 155 NBA games, including 14 appearances last season as a two-way player for the Philadelphia 76ers.

Beauchamp was part of Milwaukee’s roster in 2024, playing 48 games while averaging 12.7 minutes and 4.4 points per game. The Bucks won the newly introduced NBA Cup that year. Milwaukee had selected him with the 24th overall pick two years earlier. After four seasons in the unpredictable world of the NBA, playing for four franchises as well as G-League teams, Munich will be his first European destination for the 2.01-meter combo guard from Washington State. Last fall, he also played twice for Team USA in the World Cup qualifiers, scoring 50 points combined.

“I don’t want to hide the fact that I still see myself as an NBA player, but this move to Europe is part of my journey and I’m really excited to play for Coach Anton and Bayern,” Beauchamp said. “I want to grow as a player at Bayern and become a better basketball player. I want to prove my talent and learn every day how basketball is played in Europe. I’m a quick learner, and I’ll show that in every practice.”

What does he want to bring to the team?

“I see myself as a big, athletic wing who can play both positions. Pick-and-roll, catch-and-shoot, I’m fast in transition and I can defend the opponent’s best player. Hopefully, you’ll see all of that very soon!”

Beauchamp has already spoken with Gavel, who said:

“With MarJon, we have completed our final external signing and we are very happy that he chose Munich. We expect him to give us a boost on both ends of the floor. Offensively, he can score and make the team better through his individual quality. Defensively, his size and athleticism allow him to stay in front of his man. He therefore fits perfectly into our concept.”

Bayern sporting director Thorsten Leibenath is also delighted with the club’s sixth signing of the summer. Bayern are expected to complete their roster shortly.

“We were looking for a player who could influence our game in a variety of ways, and MarJon will be able to do that because he is both a strong defender and a versatile offensive player. He has a good ability to attack the basket and will make our game faster, but he can also create opportunities for his teammates. We deliberately chose a young player who, despite his quality, still has room to develop. He now wants to showcase himself on the European stage, and we are convinced that he can immediately develop into an important player for us.”

MarJon Beauchamp is from Yakima in central Washington, where he began playing college basketball in 2021 after the pandemic, averaging 30.7 points per game. He then moved to the NBA G-League Ignite, which at the time served as a development team in the league. In 12 games, he impressed Milwaukee with an average of nearly 16 points per game. The Bucks, who had won the NBA championship in 2021, selected him 24th overall in the 2022 NBA Draft. Beauchamp made 132 appearances for Milwaukee, including six playoff games. His NBA career-high was 20 points, which he scored against Atlanta in November 2022.

At the same time, Beauchamp particularly impressed during his first two seasons with the Bucks’ G-League affiliate, the Wisconsin Herd. In 2023/2024, he averaged 24.7 points, 6.3 rebounds and 5.7 assists per game.

In February 2025, he was traded to the Los Angeles Clippers and, after three appearances, was soon moved on to the New York Knicks, where he played six games. Last season, he had a limited role with the 76ers from December onward, averaging 6.8 points in 14 appearances, while taking on a much larger role in the G-League with the Delaware Blue Coats, where he averaged 23.8 points in 24 games while shooting 37.2% from three-point range.

In the first window of the Americas region’s World Cup qualifiers last November, he scored 24 and 26 points in two games against Nicaragua, shooting 64.3% from three-point range (9-for-14).

Beauchamp’s father, Jon, also played college basketball, while his grandfather Henry Beauchamp, who died in 2013, was the first African-American mayor of Yakima.
