Bayern Munich and head coach Gordon Herbert have mutually decided to part ways. The news was announced by the club in an official statement. Herbert and the management believed that a change was in the best interest of the team, given that the Bavarians are coming off a streak of 8 consecutive losses in the EuroLeague.
Herbert took over the Munich basketball team following his success with the German national team after the 2024 Olympics. He led Bayern to the 2025 title and had previously secured a spot in the EuroLeague playoffs. Currently, the team sits at the top of the Bundesliga standings and has qualified for the German Cup Final Four (February 21-22); however, in the EuroLeague, the Bavarians are in second-to-last place with a 5-12 record.
