After FC Bayern Basketball beat Hapoel Tel Aviv, head coach Svetislav Pesic pointed to defense as the key: “As always in basketball, defense is the foundation.” He said Bayern needed a near-perfect performance and the right balance between offense and defense to get the result.
Pesic explained that Bayern found a way to disrupt Hapoel’s offensive organization, adding: “They have the best perimeter player in Europe, but we solved it today.” He also noted that strong defense created confidence on the other end, and that Bayern improved their offensive entry and execution even against Hapoel’s very aggressive, borderline defense.
He then referenced his first game back against Hapoel in Munich in December, pointing to earlier issues with injuries and lost continuity. “We are not the best team in Europe,” Pesic said, but insisted that improved dynamics and defense can elevate the group. He added that Bayern still haven’t had a full roster since his return due to injuries and illnesses, while acknowledging that every team deals with similar problems. He closed by highlighting the Bundesliga form: “We’re playing very well, and wins bring confidence.”
