Baskonia will reportedly pay Markus Howard around €2 million in compensation after his exit, while Zenit is set to pay him about €1 million per season

Baskonia will reportedly pay Markus Howard around €2 million after terminating his contract early. According to El Correo, as relayed by BasketNews, Howard is expected to earn around €1 million per season on his two-year deal with Zenit St. Petersburg.

Howard’s departure from Vitoria was neither a transfer nor a loan. Baskonia and the player agreed to terminate a contract that still had this season and next season remaining. Howard was reportedly due around €2 million net this year and slightly more in 2027-28.

The difference between that salary and his new Zenit deal led Baskonia to agree to compensation of roughly €2 million, which will be paid in installments. Howard also reportedly agreed to defer part of the payment to help facilitate his exit.
