Barcelona officially presented the 11 players signed during the summer on Tuesday, marking the beginning of a new project.
The newcomers are Umoja Gibson, Agustín Ubal, Josh Nebo, Stanley Umude, Olek Balcerowski, Tyrese Martin, Tosan Evbuomwan, Yoan Makoundou, Justin Robinson, Olivier Nkamhoua and Justin Minaya.
Sporting director Xevi Pujol explained the reasons behind the extensive roster overhaul:
“It has been an intense summer, with many changes across all areas. The 11 new players share a specific athletic profile, all with fresh legs, a good mentality and a strong desire to improve. We prioritized these qualities over traditional positional roles. We hope we have found a balance between personalities and skill sets that will allow us to grow.”
Several of the new arrivals are playing in European basketball, and at Barcelona, for the first time. “They all have a great desire to adapt to the ACB, the EuroLeague and a major club like ours,” Pujol added.
The schedule, particularly for teams competing in the EuroLeague, leaves little room for rest. The Catalan League will be Barcelona’s first official competition, followed by the Spanish Super Cup and the start of domestic and European competitions.
“After the preseason, the first major challenge will be to continue working as much as possible to build team chemistry, develop tactically and gradually implement the style of play we envisioned during the summer.”
