FC Barcelona have announced an agreement with Juan Carlos Navarro to adjust his contract through 2029. The Barça legend, who had served as General Manager of the basketball section in recent seasons, will now take on new duties within the club’s structure.
Navarro will become ambassador of the basketball section and mentor for young players in the club’s youth categories. The remaining year of his contract will be deferred over the next three seasons, keeping him tied to Barcelona during a period of restructuring for the section.
Navarro joined Barça’s youth system in 1992, made his first-team debut in 1997 and became one of the greatest figures in club history. After retiring in 2018, he stayed with Barcelona, first as head of the youth basketball department from 2019 to 2021, and then as General Manager from April 16, 2021.
