Maximum concern at FC Barcelona over Jan Vesely, who suffered acute lower-back pain during the EuroLeague loss to Paris Basketball (74-85). The Czech center asked to be subbed early in the third quarter and was essentially unable to impact the second half, as Barça slipped to 55-67 heading into the fourth.
Vesely is expected to undergo medical tests to determine the severity of the issue, and his availability for Sunday’s 5:00 pm CET game vs BAXI Manresa is described as “virtually impossible”. The key question is whether he can be ready for the Copa next week, where he is crucial to Barcelona’s frontcourt balance.
The injury list is already crowded: Tomas Satoransky is dealing with back problems and has missed games, while Kevin Punter is racing to return from a left adductor injury. Head coach Xavi Pascual summed up the situation bluntly: “Everything’s been broken for a while and we’re surviving as we can,” stressing how the absence of multiple starters is taking its toll.
Vesely has played 42 games this season (26 in EuroLeague, 16 in Liga Endesa), but the timing of this setback leaves Barça waiting anxiously for good news.
