LA Clippers owner Steve Ballmer addressed the $28 million Kawhi Leonard endorsement with Aspiration, the bankrupt firm he invested in.
“I only made the introduction; they went off on their own,” Ballmer told ESPN. “I was conned myself, lost money, and had no control over the company. I feel embarrassed I didn’t sniff out the fraud.”
He emphasized the Clippers respected NBA salary cap rules and praised his relationship with Leonard: “The allegations aren’t true. With Kawhi we’re clear on the rules and we follow them.”
