The Utah Jazz have appointed Austin Ainge as president of basketball operations, giving him final decision-making authority, according to owner Ryan Smith. The move brings clarity after years of front office ambiguity.
Ainge, son of CEO Danny Ainge, has 16 years of NBA experience and will oversee GM Justin Zanik, who retains his title but now reports to Austin. Smith dismissed concerns of nepotism, stating the hire was made independently.
“We have a ton of options and picks. It’ll take hard work, but I’m ready,” said Ainge. His hiring marks a new chapter in Utah’s rebuilding project.
