Atlanta Hawks and Trae Young working together on a trade, sources tell ESPN

Sources told ESPN that Trae Young and his representatives are working with the franchise to explore a trade. The recent discussions with Onsi Saleh are described as “positive and collaborative.”

The sides have stayed in contact for months following Atlanta’s decision not to offer an extension to the 27-year-old guard. Young has this season and next season left on his deal at $95 million total, plus a player option in the offseason.

Young has been limited to 10 games due to leg issues and is currently out with a right quad contusion after a right MCL sprain earlier.

ESPN Research numbers cited show Atlanta’s results have been stronger without him, alongside the emergence of Jalen Johnson and Nickeil Alexander-Walker.
