According to L’Équipe, ASVEL may have to significantly reduce the budget for the 2026-27 season.
The club, now coached by Tony Parker, had initially planned a €59 million budget—which would have been the largest in French basketball history—but the financial guarantees provided by a prospective Asian investor were rejected by the DNCCG (National Directorate of Management Control).
As a result, ASVEL submitted a Plan B worth approximately €24 million.
The rejected investment was expected to cover more than half of the club’s projected budget for the upcoming season.
The revised financial plan is expected to allow ASVEL to secure its place in the French league—unlike AS Monaco, whose application was initially rejected—but it raises major questions about managing a roster already built around several high-profile contracts, including Sylvain Francisco, Nick Weiler-Babb, Armoni Brooks, and Daniel Theis.
According to the report, Parker has already begun searching for new investors in an effort to get as close as possible to the club’s original financial project.
