ASVEL is currently unable to register new players after failing to pay two consecutive installments under a previous agreement with Joffrey Lauvergne. According to Eurohoops, the remaining debt stands at €300,000.
Lauvergne is reportedly taking the matter back to the Basketball Arbitral Tribunal, triggering a freeze on new roster additions for the French club.
The big man played for ASVEL from 2022 to 2025 and is now with Partizan. The sanction comes during a difficult financial period for Villeurbanne, following a significant offseason budget reduction.
