AS Monaco Basket placed in insolvency
AS Monaco Basket has been placed in cessation de paiements, effectively bringing the current Roca Team project to an end.
The club announced that it will now take a break in the hope of finding a path toward restructuring and, one day, relaunching the project.
«Today is a sad day», the club wrote in a message addressed to the Roca Family, while thanking everyone who supported the team throughout the past 12 years.
A 12-year project filled with success
The Roca Team leaves the court after an unbeaten season on the domestic stage, having won all of the major French trophies.
The club’s 12-year run produced an impressive résumé:
- 3 French league titles
- 4 Leaders Cups
- 2 French Cups
- 1 French Super Cup
- 2 EuroLeague Final Fours, including one final
- 1 EuroCup title, won in 2021
That EuroCup triumph gave the Principality its first-ever European title in a team sport.
Five EuroLeague campaigns
Across its five EuroLeague campaigns, Monaco defeated all of the major European powers it faced.
The journey ultimately led to two Final Four appearances and a historic run to the EuroLeague final.
«The greatest achievement was you»
The club stressed that the greatest achievement of the past 12 years was never a trophy.
«It was you! The Roca Family: unique, passionate and incredibly loyal».
The message paid tribute to the thousands of voices, flags, jerseys, road trips and unwavering support that surrounded the team.
«What was created in the stands and around this team goes far beyond any victory, however extraordinary, or any title, however prestigious», the club wrote.
The future now rests with the Association de l’ASM
The future of men’s basketball in Monaco now rests with the Association de l’ASM, its management, coaches, young players and first team competing in Nationale 3.
The hope is that, one day, the red and white will return to the highest level.
«We can only hope that, as soon as possible, the Roca Team will shine again at the Salle Gaston Médecin, that the immense Roca Team flag will once again fly above the stands, and that thousands of voices will once again roar together:
DAGHE MUNEGU!»
