Anthony Edwards has been ordered to pay $14,000 per month in child support for his son with Alexandria Descroches, according to TMZ Sports, which cited court documents.
The amount was determined in part based on Edwards’ monthly income, which is reportedly close to $4.8 million. The final figure is considerably higher than the initial baseline child-support calculation of approximately $3,200 per month.
Descroches had sought a larger contribution. Court documents obtained by TMZ state that she earns roughly $1,016 per month and testified that she hopes to finish college in order to provide greater support for their son.
The court also took Edwards’ substantial earnings and monthly expenses into account when determining the amount. According to the documents, the Timberwolves star has the financial means to spend around $31,000 per month on food, $70,000 on entertainment and $30,000 on vacations.
In addition to the $14,000 monthly child-support payment, the judge ordered Edwards to obtain a life insurance policy worth approximately $2.6 million, with Descroches listed as the primary beneficiary.
Edwards was also ordered to pay more than $21,000 toward her legal expenses. The court documents also shed light on Edwards’ relationship with Amir. According to TMZ, Edwards testified under oath that he has never met his son in person and is not seeking parenting time with him.
That detail makes the ruling particularly notable, as the financial obligations were imposed despite Edwards not pursuing an active parenting role in his son’s life.
