Zalgiris Kaunas was defeated on Sunday on the court of Wolves 97-93. A loss that doesn’t hurt the standings – the ‘greens’ remain on top – but it certainly leaves its mark after a resounding 27-0 in a 35-13 second quarter.
Andrea Trinchieri, in the press room, did not take kindly to a question from a journalist who actually asked if the team was on holiday.
«Are you serious? What? And you vacation. We have a game in 40 in 72 hours. For what vacation are you talking about? So do you know our record? We just coming from two games that we won by 40 points and we had one bad quarter and we are on vacation, man».
«So if you are serious, I’m gonna answer serious. Your question is unacceptable. We played a terrible quarter. We are gonna watch the quarter. We are gonna do whatever it takes from my side to solve it. But never ever again disrespect my players. Never ever. Because I don’t disrespect your job. Playing bad. One thing being not focused on other things. Being on vacation when you are paid to do your job. This is too long shot in my opinion».
«You did it. You did it. Because if I say to you that you are on vacation now, what you’re gonna think about that? What you’re gonna think if I say that you are here with a laptop but you’re on vacation? You think that it’s not insulting? Is it a thing that you will accept? And believe me, I’m not pissed off for the game. Don’t think. Don’t take me wrong in the life. Shit happens. We play a shitty second quarter, and I’m responsible for that. And I will take the blame for that. But you saying to my players that they are on vacation? No way. Never ever».
