Alex Abrines has officially announced his retirement from basketball. The FC Barcelona captain, who turns 32 on August 1, played ten seasons with the club, winning 15 trophies and appearing in 660 games.
Abrines joined Barça at 18 from Unicaja, played in the NBA with Oklahoma City from 2016 to 2019, then returned to the Palau for another successful stint. He is the second-most capped player in club history.
In his farewell letter, he wrote: “The Palau will always be my home. Now I want to be with my family. Basketball and Barça have given me everything.” The club thanked him and wished him well.
