AEK Betsson has opened talks with Cassius Winston, formerly of Reggio Emilia, to strengthen their point guard position for next season

AEK Betsson has begun discussions with Cassius Winston, 27, 1.85m, who played last season for Reggio Emilia, for the point guard role. Winston averaged 16.3 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 5.1 assists under coach Priftis in Italy.

He previously played for Tofas and spent a EuroLeague season with Bayern Munich, after being drafted in 2020 by the Thunder and traded to the Wizards. AEK is seeking a different profile from Prentiss Hubb, who is close to joining Derthona.

Meanwhile, AEK announced Frank Bartley as their first signing and is working on extending Dimitris Flionis with a five-year offer. Winston has now emerged as a top target to lead the team in the Basketball Champions League.
