After victories with Zaragoza and Partizan, it looked like Real Madrid was back to winning ways, but Chus Mateo’s team again slipped badly in the league. In the third round of Liga ACB, the defending champions were defeated on the road 83-79 by Bilbao Basket, despite Gabriel Deck’s 23 points and 6 rebounds. The Argentine had good help from Mario Hezonja, who scored 18 points, and Facundo Campazzo, who contributed 16 points and 8 assists, but it was not enough.
Kristian Kullamae led the Basque team with 18 points, Thijs De Ridder and Marvin Jones added with 11 points each, while Zoran Dragic was the third team scorer with 10 points.
After losing in the first day against newly promoted Leyma Coruña, Real Madrid is thus one win and two losses away from the championship.
