Real Madrid heads into its EuroLeague Round 10 clash with Panathinaikos dealing with several absences, with Pedro Martínez calling on the depth of his roster. “Injuries are a setback for the team, but that’s the situation,” Martínez said. “We have a deep roster and this is a very good opportunity to show that it can solve, or at least reduce, the impact of these important absences.”
Martínez confirmed that Facundo Campazzo will not play: “He has a muscle injury. We are not counting on him. I don’t have any more information and I can’t give a timetable.” Nick Smith Jr., however, has been medically cleared and is expected to be available despite missing several practices.
Madrid will also have to adjust its style: “We probably won’t be able to play many minutes with a pure point guard because we are missing two of them. We need to play a little differently and adapt to the situation.”
On a possible return of Eli Ndiaye, Martínez added: “It’s something I would like, but it’s not easy. He belongs to another club and the clubs are talking. It’s not something that will happen immediately.”
