Michael Wilbon is taking a leave of absence from ESPN to address multiple health issues and hopes to return to PTI soon

Michael Wilbon is taking a break from ESPN. The longtime commentator and “Pardon the Interruption” co-host announced a leave of absence to address what he described as “multiple health issues.”

Wilbon, who turns 68 later this month, wrote on X that he is heading to the “injured list,” while adding that he hopes it will not be an extended stay.

He did not provide further details about his condition, but said people close to him had noticed concerning signs in recent years that he had largely ignored. Wilbon also clarified that the issues are not related to alcohol or gambling.

“The goal is to come out of it feeling much better than I do now and ready to return to sparring with Tony,” Wilbon wrote, referring to Tony Kornheiser. His last appearance on “PTI” was on October 26.
