Gerry Cardinale has confirmed RedBird’s ambitions regarding the NBA Europe project, clearly identifying Milan as the target city for a possible franchise. Speaking to La Repubblica, the head of the US investment fund and AC Milan said: “We have everything in place to start work on a 20,000-seat arena. NBA Europe, we want to be there with a franchise in Milan. I also have ambitions in tennis.”
His words therefore reaffirm Cardinale’s involvement in the new European basketball project linked to the NBA, with the stated goal of establishing a team in Milan.
As previously reported, the project would be developed in partnership with Pallacanestro Varese, connecting the Milan initiative with one of the most historic clubs in Italian basketball. Cardinale also linked his sporting ambitions to infrastructure development, specifically mentioning plans for a new 20,000-seat arena.
