Whenever Golden State needs room to breathe, Stephen Curry still finds a way to change the game. In Minnesota, the Warriors star poured in 44 points, eight rebounds and six assists to lead Golden State to a 119-114 win over the Timberwolves.
The performance carries extra weight because of the timing. The Warriors opened the season with three straight losses, but after winning in Denver they picked up another road victory and, more importantly, rediscovered the version of Curry capable of taking complete control offensively.
At 38, perhaps the most remarkable part is that Curry can still raise Golden State’s entire competitive level on his own. Yaxel Lendeborg continues to impress and the younger players are growing, but when the game gets harder, the reference point remains the same. Curry is still Golden State’s ultimate safety net.
