Daniele Baiesi, general manager of Olimpia Milano, made two statements to La Gazzetta dello Sport: “I am personally responsible for building the team.”
This is a show of accountability from the red-and-white executive, who hasn’t ruled out moves in the transfer market: “No one has ever said no to the transfer market. To make changes, there need to be players available who represent an upgrade; here, we don’t make changes just for the sake of it.”
There remain many problems for a team that has so far won 3 of 11 official games across the LBA and EuroLeague: “But regardless of what you can do, we can’t ignore the need to solve the problems the team continues to face: first for 38 minutes, now for 10, with a schedule that doesn’t give us a chance to work, and building habits takes time and a certain level of experience that this team lacks. Then, when it comes to the transfer market: everyone focuses on incoming transfers, but at that point, I’m also thinking about outgoing transfers.”
