According to Jake Fischer, the Boston Celtics are among the teams interested in Devin Carter, the 24-year-old former lottery pick who was recently released by the Atlanta Hawks.
Carter, selected No. 13 overall in the 2024 NBA Draft, had previously been traded from the Sacramento Kings to the Hawks.
After last season’s All-Star break, Carter averaged 12.1 points, 4.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists in 24 minutes per game.
Before the latest salary cap projections, Boston was about $1.7 million below the luxury tax line, meaning the Celtics would have slightly crossed the threshold by signing Carter to a minimum contract worth $2.45 million.
With the updated projections, however, Boston should be able to add a minimum-salary contract without going over the luxury tax line.
