The preparation of the Greek men’s national team ahead of the next two FIBA World Cup qualifying games will begin on Friday, August 14.
The second phase will see Greece face Ukraine in Riga on August 28 at 7:00 p.m. and Spain at the T-Center on August 31 at 7:00 p.m. Vassilis Spanoulis’ team will enter the second phase with a 3-3 record carried over from the first phase.
The Greek head coach has called up 17 players for the training camp. The preparation schedule also includes two friendly games at the T-Center: Greece will face Poland on August 22 and Cyprus on August 24.
Giannis Antetokounmpo is notably absent from the squad, with the Greek Basketball Federation clarifying that his absence is not related to insurance issues.
The forward moved from the Milwaukee Bucks to the Miami Heat during the offseason and has decided to remain in Miami to focus on preparing for the upcoming NBA season.
The full squad is listed below. Kostas Sloukas is also absent, while Nick Calathes returns to the national team.
