Enes Kanter Freedom has taken another step in his controversial attempt to enter the WNBA, officially submitting paperwork declaring for the 2027 WNBA Draft.
The former NBA big man shared a copy of the document on social media Monday, confirming that he had formally notified the league of his decision. The letter, dated August 6, was addressed to the WNBA League Office and Player Personnel, with commissioner Cathy Engelbert also copied. Freedom stated that he was entering the player pool to “exercise my draft rights,” citing his age and lack of remaining college eligibility.
He later wrote “Officially official” on Instagram, adding the hashtag #LetFreedomPlay. The WNBA will now have to determine how to respond to his request.
