Olympiacos seal a legendary season with the Greek title

Olympiacos beat Panathinaikos in Game 5 and win the 16th championship in club history

Olympiacos beat Panathinaikos Aktor 89-85 in Game 5 of the Greek Finals: Evan Fournier led the way with 22 points and 7 assists, followed by Sasha Vezenkov with 19. For Panathinaikos, Vassilis Toliopoulos finished with 21 points.

The deciding derby was intense and heated, with Kendrick Nunn and Tyrique Jones ejected after an altercation in the third quarter. Olympiacos had more energy and control, building a 20-point lead at 59-39 behind Fournier, Vezenkov and Nikola Milutinov.

Panathinaikos, without the injured Kostas Sloukas and Nikos Rogkavopoulos and with Hernangomez and Faried out of the foreign-player lineup, still fought back. Toliopoulos powered the Greens’ rally to 83-79 in the final minute, but Fournier closed the game from the free-throw line and delivered the title.

The French guard was the star of the night: 22 points on 4-of-6 from two, 3-of-3 from three and 5-of-9 from the line, plus 3 rebounds, 7 assists and a steal in 30 minutes. Milutinov dominated inside with 14 points and 7 rebounds, while Vezenkov also scored the key basket for 83-72 late.

Olympiacos clinched the championship with a 3-2 series win and finished a dominant season in style. After the Super Cup and EuroLeague, the Greek title makes it three trophies out of four for the Piraeus powerhouse.
