FIBA Intercontinental Cup to be played in Beijing through 2028

The FIBA Intercontinental Cup will be held in Beijing through 2028, after three consecutive editions in Singapore

FIBA announced that Beijing will host the FIBA Intercontinental Cup through 2028. The tournament, whose roots date back to 1965, has been relaunched in recent years with an increasingly international format.

FIBA Secretary General Andreas Zagklis said: “The roots of this event date back to 1965 and one of our main missions has been to breathe new life into the FIBA Intercontinental Cup in the 2020s. What started as a competition between just two teams has evolved into a truly global tournament”.

For the 2026 edition, Rytas Vilnius, winner of the Basketball Champions League in Europe, Boca Juniors, champion of the Basketball Champions League Americas, and RSSB Tigers, winner of the Basketball Africa League, have already secured their spots. The full list of participating teams will be confirmed at a later stage.
