Joan Laporta will make one last attempt to convince Xavi Pascual to stay as Barcelona head coach, despite the coach having already decided to join Dubai.
According to EFE, Barça’s elected president has taken charge of the negotiation after Pascual’s meeting with Rafael Yuste did not change the coach’s position. Before the meeting, Enric Masip reportedly met Pascual in Gavà.
Sources close to the coach, however, say Laporta’s move has come too late. Pascual has reportedly informed the club of his intention to pay the exit clause, worth more than €400,000, and leave at the end of the season.
Dubai Basketball is offering an ambitious project and a much higher salary, targeting the 2027 Abu Dhabi Final Four. Barcelona, meanwhile, is considering Spanoulis and Ibon Navarro as its first alternatives.
