Brad Stevens is not interested in leaving the Boston Celtics to become the next head coach at North Carolina. According to CBS Sports, Stevens has removed his name from consideration for the Tar Heels opening after the firing of Hubert Davis.
The 49-year-old previously led Butler to back-to-back NCAA title game appearances before joining the Celtics in 2013. Since 2021, he has moved from the bench to Boston’s front office, a role he clearly still views as his priority.
That development narrows the field for North Carolina as the program searches for its next coach. According to U.S. reports, other names linked to the job include Tommy Lloyd, Dusty May, TJ Otzelberger and Billy Donovan.
