Alba Berlin are reportedly planning the construction of a new 15,000-seat arena, designed to meet NBA standards and support a possible role in the NBA Europe project. Reported first by Berliner Morgenpost and echoed by dpa, the plan would mark a major strategic step for the club.
According to the reports, the investment would exceed €100 million, and the project is expected to be presented to Berlin’s sports committee. Alba confirmed to dpa that ideas for a new arena do exist, although the club did not comment on the details.
Alba currently play most of their home games at the Uber Arena, but have long been evaluating alternatives because of costs and scheduling issues. In that context, owning a new venue would be a major step forward from a sporting, financial and strategic point of view.
