According to reporter Umit Avci, the Turkish Basketball Federation has decided to naturalize point guard Malachi Flynn in order to address the recurring injury issues of Shane Larkin and Scottie Wilbekin.
A product of San Diego State University, Flynn is best known for his historic 50-point performance in an NBA game. This past summer, he chose to begin his European career by signing with Bahçeşehir Koleji.
Flynn is currently averaging 17.6 points, 5.1 assists, and 1.7 steals per game in the Turkish BSL, while posting 18.2 points, 4.2 assists, and 1.8 steals per contest in the EuroCup. He is shooting 37% from three-point range on nearly seven attempts per game across competitions.
The guard could be available for selection as early as the upcoming national team windows scheduled for February and March, should the naturalization process be completed in time.
