The Atlanta Hawks have announced the signing of Charles Bassey, the 24-year-old Nigerian big man who had attracted interest from several EuroLeague clubs in recent months.
Bassey appeared in 36 games during the 2024-25 season with the San Antonio Spurs, averaging 4.4 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 0.8 blocks in 10 minutes per game.
Selected by the 76ers with the 53rd overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft, the 6’10” center has played 113 NBA games between Philadelphia (2021-22) and San Antonio (2022-25), posting 4.3 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 0.8 blocks in 11 minutes per contest.
Bassey most likely signed an Exhibit 10 contract with the Hawks.
In Atlanta, he will have to compete with N’Faly Dante and Mouhamed Gueye to secure a spot on the roster. The Georgia-based team still has several openings to fill, and more details should emerge after training camp.
