The Philadelphia 76ers outlasted the Houston Rockets 128-122 in overtime behind Joel Embiid’s 32-point triple-double (15 rebounds, 10 assists) and 46 minutes — his most in a regular-season game in more than three years.
Coach Nick Nurse labeled the performance “a pretty big step forward,” pointing to Embiid’s improving form and workload as the season progresses. Embiid joked about Jan. 22 being a good day for him, then emphasized he’s “glad to be consistent,” while noting he still isn’t cleared for back-to-backs.
Philadelphia also leaned on Tyrese Maxey (36 points, 10 assists) to hold off Houston, which got 36 from Kevin Durant. The game featured late controversy around a potential missed goaltending call in regulation before the Sixers struck first in overtime and closed it out.
