The countdown to the 2020 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Final Four has marked its next step with the unveiling of this season’s Final Four logo.
The new logo follows in the footsteps of those from the last three Final Fours – Vitoria-Gasteiz, Belgrade and Istanbul – by mixing basketball with symbols that represent the best that Cologne has to offer. After all, a successful Final Four is the symbiosis of basketball and its host city.
This season’s logo sits atop a classic orange-and-black EuroLeague basketball, representing the fact that the Final Four is built around the world-class competition that the four teams and dozens of players showcase on the court.
At the top of the logo is the pinnacle of the Colonius, Cologne’s telecommunications tower, the tallest structure in the city at 266 meters. Its great height and unique features mimic the vast reach and special atmosphere that the Final Four brings with 16,000 fans on hand for the games and millions of others watching Europe’s finest teams from the comfort of their homes on six continents.
Below that, spanning the basketball, is the Hohenzollern Bridge. One of the most prominent bridges in Germany, the Hohenzollern crosses the Rhine River and is the most heavily used railway bridge in Germany, with more than 1,200 trains daily. Many fans will cross Hohenzollern Bridge as they make their way to Lanxess Arena for the games of the Final Four.
The center of the logo features the words “Final Four” in block lettering, mimicking the in-arena screens and representing the larger-than-life entertainment experience one can expect when attending the Final Four.
The 2020 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Final Four Cologne will mark the third time that Europe’s premier basketball event lands in Germany; the 2009 and 2016 editions saw the culminating moment of the basketball season take place in Berlin.
Alongside the games on May 22 and 24 that will crown this season’s kings of European basketball, parallel events throughout Cologne will see hundreds of thousands of fans join the celebrations through a series of basketball-themed events.
