Zenit St. Petersburg GM Alexander Tserkovny talked with Sports Express about the emergency in the Russian powerhouse which has eight players and three coaches infected.
Zenit should fly to Spain for two EuroLeague games against Baskonia and Valencia but they have written a letter to EuroLeague asking to postpone the games.
“We want to play but it is impossible with six players. Of course, we can reach the minimum of 8 players adding some from youth sector but I think we have no right to do so. Firstly because we have every day new infected and there is no guarantee that one of them will not get week. Secondly, if a player is tested positive, we would leave him in Spain for two weeks” the GM said. “We followed all the possible and impossible measures to avoid spreading the virus. We made tests every day and we quickly isolated the infected” the manager added. “We notified EuroLeague about the emergency in out team. We are waiting for their decision. The rules are the same for everyone”.
