Zeljko Obradovic says he has not talked with Fenerbahce about a contract extension

Obradovic confirms that his priority is to remain as head coach of Fenerbahce

Fenerbahce head coach Zeljko Obradovic confirmed the rumors reported early today by Sportando about his contract with the Turkish powerhouse.

The Serbian coach denied that he has reached an agreement with Fenerbahce to extend his agreement for the next seasons.

“I hope that this announcement of mine will find all people in good health and to those struggling I wish a speedy recovery. The reason I have not gone public lately is the current situation that we all go through together. From the moment we have suspended our game and practice operations I am in constant contact with our general manager and his office staff together with the coaching staff and the players of our club. The most important thing for me is that all staff and their families are in good health and that is above all for me. I am fully aware of how serious the current situation is and that is the reason I am up keeping close contact with everyone so that we can evaluate together what is best to do.

About my own situation, I would like to mention some points. I am the head coach of Fenerbahce until June 2020 and all I am doing in this current situation is with the focus on the best interest of Fenerbahce. Regarding a contract extension, I have to mention that I have not talked to no one from my club or any other club. There were no offers made to me until now. Also, I would like to highlight the fact that I have a principle in life that I would never talk to any other club while being under contract with a current club. All information where my name was related to any other club than my current is simply not the truth or let me call it fake news. Just to be clear and precise for the next season my priority would be to stay as the head coach of Fenerbahce and that is my message I want to share with the fans of Fenerbahce”.
