Željko Obradović, the Partizan Mozzart Bet head coach, shared a personal story about nearly resigning from one of his previous teams. During his appearance on “The Failure of Champions”, hosted by Slaven Bilić, the basketball mastermind discussed the moment he decided to step away as a form of “shock therapy.”
“I told my associates that I had no influence on the players. We had to do something, and that was for me to resign,” Obradović revealed. “I thanked the guys, went home.”
However, what happened next changed everything.
“First, the president of the club called me, trying to dissuade me. Then, the players begged me not to do it,” Obradović recalled. “I reminded them that they had to change if they wanted me to stay. We sat down, had a meeting, and moved on.”
While he did not specify the team or the time period, the 64-year-old coach made it clear that he would not want to leave Partizan in such a way.
