Israeli rookie Deni Avdija suffered a right ankle injury after a contested layup attemp with less than a minute to play in the first half of the game between Washington Wizards and Golden State Warriors.
After the game, coach Brooks still didn’t know the extent of his young player’s injury.
“Two things about Deni that I love: he cares a lot and he works extremely hard,” Brooks added. “Those are two characteristics that we want our program to be about and he’s about those things.”
Avdija is averaging 6.3 points, 4.9 rebounds and 1.2 assist per game.
UPDATE: According to Adrian Wojnarowski, the former Maccabi Tel Aviv forward suffered a season-ending hairline fracture in his right ankle, a problem that can be solved without surgery, with a stop of 2/3 months.
