The New Orleans Pelicans will see the contract that binds them to Brandon Ingram, one of the most important players on their roster, expire during the upcoming offseason. Despite this, the franchise apparently has no plans to offer the former Los Angeles Lakers player a contract extension, according to a report by Evan Sidery. Ingram would be eligible to sign a four-year, $208 million deal, but the Pelicans are reportedly leaning in another direction.
The NBA Insider journalist also adds that the franchise would be inclined to target Trey Murphy III at the wing position, a player who could sign a $20-$25 million annual contract with the Pelicans (he is also expiring). The New Orleans Pelicans, with the money saved from Ingram’s contract, would seem to be intent on adding another superstar to Zion Williamson.
