During this morning’s press conference, Paolo Ronci, General Manager of Virtus Segafredo Bologna, addressed the futures of Isaïa Cordinier and Tornike Shengelia, both of whom are in the final months of their contracts.
“Cordinier is drawing a lot of attention. We’ve always had NBA scouts attending Virtus games, and we’ll make our assessments at the end of the season,” Ronci said.
“He came to us from Nanterre, and now he’s a player being followed not only in the EuroLeague. It’s a journey we’re proud of. The same goes for Toko—we’ll evaluate everything at the end of the season.”
Ronci also commented on potential roster moves:
“If the coach sees a chance to bring in a player, we’ll evaluate that with the president. It’s a possibility, but it’s up to the coach to decide whether someone can give us an extra push, taking into account rotations and responsibilities.”
Finally, he spoke about the situation of Justin Holiday, who joined the club during Will Clyburn’s injury absence:
“He came in to replace an injured player, Will Clyburn, without further guarantees for the remainder of the season. We bet on an experienced NBA veteran. Does his contract end on April 30? Yes. Now that Will is back, we’re monitoring his condition, and once he’s fully reliable, Justin’s role will naturally come to an end.”
“If Holiday leaves, we’ll continue with 11 players. We’ve already promoted Corsi from our youth ranks. He’s highly appreciated by coach Ivanovic, and we fully consider him part of the senior squad.”
